I guess “culture” is kind of a stopping point here: there aren’t a lot of games that explicitly center queer experiences. There aren’t even many games that just have normal depictions of gay characters | 1 |

Only games where you get to make your own character & pursue a romance with another male character. | 1 |
Most of the already listed games allow the player to choose their orientation. The only one with a stablished gay player character is Dream Daddy | 1 |
Mass Effect (optional) | 1 |
Mass Effect (although homosexuality is a choice, not the default) | 1 |
Dragon Age Inquisition and the Mass Effect Series (player chooses their protagonists orientation), The Last of Us 2 | 1 |
Cyberpunk 2077 is the only one I can think of but I'm sure there's more (and needs to be) | 1 |
Cyberpunk | 1 |
BG3 | 1 |
Bg3 Tlou | 1 |
Baldurs Gate 3, Fallout 4, | 1 |
Could you please tell me why? (Optional) |
It's just characters, I don't feel the shown content makes much difference either way. To add, If anything they appear very masculine which is fine to me, I'm guessing given context they are homosexual, that's fine with me too. |
beards = hell yes |
The artwork isn't impressive |
They look very oversexualised, I am generally uncomfortable with this for either sexes in games but more-so this as it's not my personal orientation. I do not think it's wrong for the game to exist, but I personally would be uncomfortable playing it |
because things like sexuality don't really matter in a game as long as they serve the story. Gratuitous sex, either hetero or homo, just for the sake of sex is probably not a good idea unless it's an erotic game. |
They're all clothed (although they are all physically very fit, and so there is a lack of inclusivity) |
Just seems to be standardized game art |
The design doesn't really matter. They're all depictions of men and do not necessarily convey another message other than that. |
I just see art work of 3 guys, nothing really to just or be uncomfortable with. |
Why are the images acceptable? You need me connect for this question, but if I understand correctly, the characters are not sexualized to me so there is nothing to feel uncomfortable or not. |
Standalone depictions of implied homosexual male characters don't really bother me. I mostly don't trust narrative designers who gravitate towards writing this content to make something that I would enjoy. |
There's nothing sexual about them. |
It’s a couple of strong dudes looking rad. What’s there to be uncomfortable about? |
It’s just 3 buff guys. I don’t see an issue? This survey is so weird |
I believe that "sexy" characters are totally fine and good as long as it is for male characters as well as female ones. |
Not a big deal, who cares? |
Everyone looks like they're on a beach vacation more than a dating sim right out the gate |
They just look like normal characters. I’m not into muscly aesthetics on men or women but the characters do look typical for games. |
They don't represent males correctly, not enough variation |
It’s just art |
Nothing wrong with some hot guys |
I didn't have an option for just not particularly bothering or interesting me. |
I can tell by the artstyle that this game is not something I would be interested in, however the I think that such artstyle by itself is totally acceptable and works to attract the target audience |
They just huge men. Nothing wrong with that |
Just 3 gigantic buff dudes. Obviously pushing a stereotype. |
Couldn’t find anything wrong.maybe not my favorite personal style but looks good |
Just some guys on a beach. Sure ai can tell it's got homosexual overtones but it's nothing shocking |
No penis in picture (?) |
I never Seen it |
Don't like the design |
Looks good if a bit generic |
they are as hulking as space marines, overtly muscular which is just the same as overly exposed females - It's not morally wrong in my opinion, but since I am straight, I won't be interested in it for obvious reasons! |
It's just guys |
I don't see any issues. |
It's just attractive people, I see no problem with that, neither homosexual context in these images |
doesn't look particularly gay to me...? Just a bunch of muscular guys |
It's just 3 guys in beach attire, nothing uncomfortable about it. One on the far right looks like Reinhardt from Overwatch is having a beach day |
Look like idiots (body builders) |
They're just exaggerated buff guys |
Look - if the game's good, idc that some1's gay. Don't make the game about being gay and doing gay stuff in the first place. I don't enjoy seeing gay shit so ofc i ain't gonna play a game that's all about that. It's much like seeing shit about the tough life in the hood. I get enough of that looking out the window, I don't need to get more of that shoved in my face when I'm trying to relax. But if I play some sci-fi base building game and one of the characters has some gay lines, that's fine, we good. |
It's just buff men in a variety of outfits |
The art work is fine. It’s just 4 clothed men. Half naked men are not an issue to anyone except children. If there is an issue due to homosexuality it’ll be because of the story itself, not the artwork. |
no objections |
Doesn’t come off as porn, I don’t mind if it’s gay. |
I have no idea what Dead Dating is. |
bulgy crotch |
Clothed. |
There's nothing pornographic involved. Honestly, my issue is when any sort of sexual encounter in a video game starts to look like pornography, no matter the gender identity of the people involved. |
I like characters that look like people or look interesting, not roided monsters with a dead-pan stare. Them being homosexual, or not, doesn't matter. |
These seem like typical cheesecake characters as you’d find in any dating videogame |
More of a thing of I don't feel uncomfortable. The clothing is totally normal acceptable clothing. |
I mean, it's just art? What'd be wrong with it? |
Why is it acceptable??? Why not... |
Seems reasonable though unrealistic |
I am not a homosexual so I do not seek out homosexual relationships within games, most of the time this is because there are other relationships that feel more appealing to me. |
They just look like big dudes? |
no |
characters are fully clothed, just look like normal dudes |
Doesn't seem to be overly sexualized |
Why not? |
Because there was nothing wrong with the images |
With cloth seems just normal |
why not |
Could you please tell me why? (Optional) |
I just see different characters |
I like the level of diversity in types and the art reminds me of a friend's artwork |
love the style |
This is more toned down, and typical of what I would expect from a more "classy" dating sim |
I'm guessing because the premise of the game is to date dads, so they SHOULD look sexy |
A much more diverse group of people |
Seems to be standard game art |
Looks like a cute indie game. |
Humans are different. Looks alone do not describe a person, but even if they do that is their choice to make. |
Wasn't bothered by the Bara dating sim, and I remember this one as being more oriented towards the female gaze anyways. |
Does not appear to encourage degeneracy. |
It’s nice art |
Same reason as before. |
Again, it’s just whatever. Most media depicts idealized bodies of some kind, why not a bunch of hot dads? It doesn’t have to appeal directly to me to be “acceptable” |
Easy cutesy anime adjacent art style |
Again, they look like normal characters to me |
There are different types of male characters in the image |
Still just art of some dudes |
Why not? |
These dudes seem more like real people. |
I can tell by the artstyle that this game is not something I would be interested in, however the I think that such artstyle by itself is totally acceptable and works to attract the target audience |
Same, but not huge |
It’s more realistic than the first |
Same as before, looks good, doesn’t make me uncomfortable |
Just looks like a bunch of men lined up |
I never seen it. |
Hate it |
Cartoony and characterising |
Diversity! |
It's just men |
Same as last answer. |
Center character is too stereotypical gay, and pink colour and effects on the sides make it even worse |
I'm still not feeling 'gay' vibes. They're all dressed, for example. There are no men holding hands etc. |
Again just a group of men |
They're just guys that are dads |
Nice linework, this is kinda on the edge of being hella gay, but good overall. |
It's just various men |
Same as last |
no objections- I like the art style |
No porn. Gay is okay |
I have no idea what Dream Daddy is. |
SFW |
Just normal looking |
Solid character designs. Lots of diversity! 10/10 |
They look fun and/or pleasant with a lot of personality. |
Same as my last answer |
They look like people. And people don't make me uncomfortable |
Again, it's just art. Why would I have a problem with an art style and how does that pertain to homosexuality in games? |
I don't care about their look |
Nothing particularly out of the ordinary for male characters, other than their jacked size |
I am okay with these games existing but I would not seek them out. |
They look like dudes who went through a Twitter PR filter. |
kid |
no |
characters are fully clothed, look like normal dudes |
I've got this game in my library. |
Again, nothing wrong here. |
With cloth no special feel |
why not |
Could you please tell me why? (Optional) |
Depending on audience, I could see this being a problem due to the nudity. Besides that I have no issues with the characters and if I were expecting it I would have no issue. |
because I'm guessing it's a homosexual erotic game (not for me, as I'm straight), but then the target audience expects gay sexy men |
Lots of skin suggesting gay sexuality which I don't agree with |
The overall mood conveys an atmosphere of homosexuality which is my disinterest. |
Looks like a funny adult cartoon series. |
I have no interest in seeing sexualized imagery of males. |
Just looks like a bunch of shirtless dudes |
Clearly suggestive. |
Mostly naked men + suggestive title = probably not a game I want to play with my siblings (With whom I primarily game, even with single player titles.). |
I want to look like most of them |
ewds are cool. |
Same answer as before, I just don’t personally care. If they need to depict a bunch of hot greasy dudes to tell the story they want to tell, then that’s what they need |
The top image should be on the store page but not in the box art personal feeling is suggestive stuff should be hinted in the title, cast lineup should tell you who it's gonna focus on, but the store page is where the Spicer images and descriptions should live |
They also look normal to me, and I didn’t know this game existed, intrigued to try it! |
I suppose this just represents the types of game |
Feels excessively serialized |
It's just men. |
Although pretty naked looking they also look like regular, physically attractive dudes. |
Same as the last two examples |
Now they are naked. So it's like more noticeable homo theme |
Decently representative of society |
Same as previous 2 |
Partial nudity and the name of the game make it obvious to me I'm not interested but if I see this In a list of games, I'll just pass it |
I never seen it. |
Hate it |
Those are just people |
Regardless of gender, I don't really like sexual situations explicitly depicted in game. These half naked men fall in that category to me, same as a half naked woman would. It is a matter of the context of the depiction more than of the depiction itself, as I don't mind other games with half naked people, such as God Of War. |
The top image is men without shirts, clearly aiming for sex appeal. Again, straight male, if I play a game of sexual/romantic nature, I won't pick out gay ones! |
It's just men |
Same as last answer. |
ok so this one is clearly gay, lol |
I live by a beach, would be a difficult life if I was made uncomfortable by topless guys. Artworks fine |
They're just guys with their shirt off |
They're all shirtless dudes, I'm not about all of that. |
Looks like a dating game, or a game with a slightly more humorous approach. It's just guys and a tongue in cheek name. |
As said previously, half naked men doesn’t make any men uncomfortable, homophobic or not. Only potentially people with body issues will be affected by it |
no objections |
Getting kind of frisky |
I have no idea what that is. |
NSFW |
Just dudes |
It's a porn game. |
Honestly these are acceptable but like in a boring way. |
Stale artstyle. Not as roided as the previous one but very chiseled and monotone. |
I’d have the same response if they were women, don’t play sex games. |
geh |
Same as my last answer |
It gives more overtly sexual vibes than the others. But I have no problem with the existence of games of a sexual nature. |
It's just art???? |
Same, I don't care??? |
Touching |
no |
i wouldn't play this game, but the art is not explicit |
Overly sexualized |
Why not? |
Just normal gay males. |
A bit too much nude |
naked not so good |
Could you please tell me why? (Optional) |
That looks cool |
These characters are no different than standard fighting game characters |
No logic behind this but for some reason the anime art style makes it less uncomfortable than some of the others |
I assume a fighting game and it's common for the dudes to be jacked and show off their muscles. |
It has the anime style found in many games and animations |
Again very standard game art and although there is some skin showing it's part of an outfit and not showing for the sake of it |
Absolutely cool and conventional. |
Just looks like a manga comic/movie/game |
It's not my style, but not sometime I would actively avoid. |
Fine with everything so far, but don't really play Anime games enough to have any connotations about the art style. |
Looks like a fighting game, kind of sus since the center guy is smaller though. |
Cool fighting dudes. What’s there to be uncomfortable about? |
It’s got a nice style |
I have no issue with sexualized males, cause I like sexualized females and do not discriminate. Sexy dudes look cool anyway. |
Honestly it’s no worse than any female depiction from like the ps2 era. And honestly I would feel less weird about it if someone caught me playing it |
Look like normal characters to me |
Too exaggerated. I also don't like anime style. But hot guys are fine. |
They all look different. |
You get the idea |
Not naked. Appearance doesnt imply homosectuality |
Anime, so indifferent |
Same as before |
One of the dudes has a really gay outfit but honestly some mangas are "gayer" than this without being gay mangas. Just a bit too much testosterone |
I never seen it. |
Hate it |
They’re quite attractive |
Anime :v |
It's just men |
Same as last answer. |
It looks very stylized, and this may include female charaters with same level of sexualization |
looks like a typical Japanese anime cover |
This just looks like the main cast of an Anime |
People are not consumables |
It's your average skimpy fantasy game armour but as modern clothes |
Looks like some japanese shit, they're weird like that so we good. |
It's just guys. |
no objectiosn |
Anime sexualization |
I have no idea what that is. |
bulgy crotch |
There's definitely a bulge there |
Seems like a fighting game. |
Honestly it's that the anime art style makes them look too young. |
Very anime, which is a style of art for men where this is more common. |
Same as my last answer though that Kingdom Hearts lookin dude is kinda goofy |
Anime |
Same as the last 3 |
It's just art, though the one guy's hand looks a bit funky. |
looks plastic. |
no |
generic fighting game dudes |
Why not? |
Still seems fine. |
This no cloth rate is fine |
why not |
Could you please tell me why? (Optional) |
Not my taste but I see no issues with it |
not a fan of animal people |
I am extremely uncomfortable with the animal / human mixture of this one, it see it as very unnatural and unsettling |
again, I'm guessing it's a homoerotic game, so is on par with the genre, albeit not something I'd play |
Not the kind of game I personally would want to play I think the character art is a bit too out there for me |
Some of the characters are dressed weirdly. |
Characters’ torsos are too long |
Too much implication of sexuality. |
Tame by furry standards |
Clearly a degen fan service game. |
the artist is pretty clearly going for a sexually suggestive style that I do not care for. Open displays of sexuality by men like that are unacceptable in my eyes, be they straight or otherwise. |
Furry stuff a bit odd |
Same reasons, really. I fully support characters being hot and sexy and that can mean male characters as well. |
These ones just looked like regular dudes. If the game wasn’t called banana ranch, I might not have even guessed it was gay! |
Bit fucking weird |
Again, they look like normal characters |
Anthropomorphic characters |
Nothing wrong here. |
Looks geared toward being an erotic game but there is design diversity. |
Furry is where I draw the line |
I guess in previous questions I should've use "sexual intent" instead of "homosectuality" |
Same as before |
One half naked dude is out of place but whatever, it doesn't reference sex directly |
I never seen it. |
Hate it |
The centaurs are scary |
The centaur people make this really awkward. |
I don't know, the furry ones unnerve me, too many uncanny encounters |
It's just men? |
Same as last answer. |
i mean..it's comical so I might find the game interesting. but I'd be embarrassed if someone walked in and saw me playing it, lol! |
The artwork suggests the game would be sexualized content between animal people, that's not something I enjoy regardless of gender or sexualities so not really going to seek out a game where that seems to be the main content. |
Cat ears and furries |
Kill that with heavenly fire |
It looks like artwork for a slightly more NSFW type dating sim. I'd expect to see sheep-twinks and bondage horse-men. The sheep twink is cute by the way. |
ok this one is a bit weird lol but I'm not disgusted or anything |
Odd looking, and the suits make the men look feminine |
NSFW |
Furries |
Do you fuck horses in this game?? |
Honestly not here for the anime. Also some of them look way too young. |
A game which I have no interest in, makes the art very silly and blatantly intentional what their aim is. |
Furry |
furries |
Same etc |
Same as the last 4. Although it looks generally less good from an art perspective. Weird gradient of colour between man and horse, the lines on the topless guy on the left look a bit lacklustre. |
Anthropomorphism in sexually charged content makes me feel uncomfortable |
I think my tastes, straight or gay relationships, when it starts getting too much into the animal bodies like this game, is too much. Like if they had just some ears and a tail, sure, but the full horse body is just a bit weird to me. I saw Mr. Hands when I was a teen and I haven't been the same since. |
A little bit generic but still all good. |
Avoid furries by all means, that's for weirdos |
Quite creepy |
furry/beastiality adjacent |
no |
bordering on pornographic |
It's ok. |
Edgy but fine. |
Trend to upacceptable, i dont like nude plus animal |
naked |
